Pair of 'Klot 2' Table Lamps by Hemi for IKEA, Denmark, 1970s

£540.00

A pair of 'Klot 2' table lamps designed by Hemi for IKEA during the 1970s. Reduced to little more than a globe and a pedestal, their silhouette is both playful and quietly architectural, combining milk-white glass shades with spun brass-plated bases that flare gently out at either end.

Produced during a decade in which IKEA increasingly collaborated with independent designers and expanded its design ambitions beyond purely functional furnishings, the lamps reflect an unusually considered approach to everyday domestic objects.

Unlit, the polished brass acts almost like a mirror, reflecting and abstracting the room around it. Once illuminated, the opaline globes cast a soft, even light that is picked up by the brass, subtly altering the character of the lamps throughout the day.

Professionally rewired and PAT tested.

Height: 32 cm
Width: 20 cm
