Pair of Art Nouveau Pewter Vases by Hertz & Ballin, Denmark, 1916

£550.00

Produced by the Copenhagen firm Hertz & Ballin in 1916, this pair of pewter vases reflects the quieter side of Danish Art Nouveau. Rather than embracing elaborate ornament, decoration is confined to a band of stylised petals around the shoulder. The decoration is concentrated in a single band, allowing the elegant silhouette to remain the focus.

The pewter has mellowed to a soft, silvery grey with natural variation across the surface, while small applied beads punctuate the design without interrupting the clean outline of the piece. Each vase retains its original maker's mark and date stamp to the underside, dated 1916.

Height: 24.5 cm

Collection from Brixton, London or arranged delivery.
