French Bistro Table with Stone Composite Top, Early 20th Century

£750.00

A French bistro table with a pinkish stone composite top, framed by a rolled steel edge bearing a century of dents, its surface softened and partly polished by the hands that have rested upon it. Raised on a classically slender wrought iron base.

Popular throughout French and Belgian cafés during the first half of the twentieth century, these tables were topped with a composite of marble dust and fine aggregate bound in cement, creating the terrazzo-like surface that became a familiar feature of café interiors.

Equally suited as a side table, occasional table or pedestal.

Height: 72 cm
Length and width: approx. 55 cm (with legs 57cm)

Collection from Brixton, London, or delivery can be arranged.
