An elegant Swedish dining set, early 20th century, comprising a rectangular table and four chairs, with gently curved legs and restrained carved detailing.
The design sits between Art Nouveau and Neo-Renaissance influences – softened, slightly stylised forms paired with a more traditional structure. The chairs are defined by their shaped back splats and subtle carved roundels, giving just enough ornament. Likely a unique set, made by a local carpenter or within a domestic workshop.
The table extends with two additional leaves, allowing it to shift easily in scale depending on use.
Solid and unfussy, it sits comfortably in both traditional and more pared-back interiors.
Finished in white paint, with light wear, marks and minor cracking consistent with age.
The chairs’ leather seats have been later painted white. Reupholstery can easily be arranged – £160 for the set of four in calico, with additional cost dependent on fabric choice.
